Not in the mood for traditional holiday celebrations? Six Flags has transformed the popular theme park into a festive Winter Wonderland.
Six Flags America’s Largo Park has been transformed into a magical Winter Wonderland, complete with millions of glittering lights, entertainment, Christmas goodies, and more. The Holiday in the Park festival runs until January 2, 2018. The park will be open on select weekdays, providing area residents with a way of curing their winter blues. Tickets are $42.99; children two and under are free. The park will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. [gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="6319,6320"] Each of the park’s six areas have been transformed for the month-long festival, including areas designated for photo ops with Santa and fireside s'more roasting at the many fire pits setup throughout the park. Warm yourself up with traditional holiday meals, cider and hot chocolate, breaded soup bowls, roasted nuts, red velvet funnel cakes and pumpkin spice, apple cinnamon pretzels and more at the park's concession stands. Need to get some holiday shopping done? No problem. The park will have shops open so you can find the perfect presents for everyone on your list. [gallery size="full" ids="6321,6322,6327"] Watch as a 27-foot Christmas tree is lit up at 5 p.m. on the Park’s Main Street. Looney Tunes entertainers and singers will be on site performing on the Circle stage, and there will also be a song and dance celebration entitled “Rockin’ the North Pole,” which features a colorful take on the best holiday songs. An elaborate light show will also run every 15 minutes in the Holiday Magic section of the park. And if that wasn't enough, the Showtime Theater in the Retro Christmas section of the park will host “Let It Snow” – a holiday sing-a-long that is ideal for kids of all ages to participate in. “Home for the Holidays,” a song and dance show that tells the story of a military family’s holiday as the family’s father is stationed away during Christmas, will provide some wholesome entertainment for the whole family by touching upon the meaning of love, togetherness and commitment.
While plenty of holiday-themed activities and entertainment are planned, guests will get their money’s worth as 24 of park’s rides will be open, including five roller coasters. The roller coasters are guaranteed to make your stomach drop, while other thrill rides such as High Seas, Voodoo Drop and the Zydeco Zinger will help to keep adult guests and older kids entertained.
Plenty of rides that cater to younger kids (and those afraid of coasters) will also be open. Pirate’s Flight is only a little scary; Big Easy Speedway’s go-carts are something that kids and adults can enjoy together; and rides like the Tea Cups, Carousel and Flying Carousel are fun without being too scary. There are also other rides geared towards your little ones like Foghorn Tinsel Town Train and Elmer’s Around the World in 80 seconds.
