With the recent heavy snowfall, it’s tempting to not drive straight to the mountains. Regardless of how excited you are, you must follow these ski safety tips to prevent injury:
1.Collision
The biggest cause of ski accidents is collision. The more experienced you are, the more time you have to glance around for others. Make sure you are aware of your surroundings at all times to avoid collision.
2. Make sure your bindings are properly set.
If your bindings aren’t on correctly, it could lead to serious leg or knee injuries. Therefore, when asked your height and weight, DO NOT LIE (as hard as it may be) because you need to be properly fitted in order to have fun and be safe.
3. Watch Out for Ice
If you’re a beginner skier, It is recommended that you do not attempt to turn on ice. If your skis aren’t fine tuned and you aren’t well experienced, it could lead to a nasty tumble. Look for fresh powder. Always. This is probably the top ski safety tip.
4. Helmet
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wear a helmet. No matter how great of a skier you are, someone who might not be could always collide with you. It’s other people and trees you have to look out for!
