WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — An Oklahoma non-profit is extending its reach to Wichita Falls with a new branch of Soldier’s Wish.

According to its website, Soldier’s Wish aims to identify and provide for the needs of veterans, service members and their families regardless of branch or rank.

Retired Colonel Anthony Puente will head up the local chapter and has already jumped in.

“We’ve also helped several veterans in the local area with air conditioning. My favorite example is that we had a young airman that needed to get home; he had a family member that passed away [and] we were able to give him the money, he was able to go home,” Puente said. “We want to be able to fill the gaps of things that fall through the holes that not everybody can help them out with.”

Soldier’s Wish offers assistance with home repairs, vehicle repairs, medical bills, projects, and more.

“Anything that we can do to help, obviously manpower and resources is what we always need, so if you wanna help out with that, we are always looking for help with that,” Puente said.

Any service member, veteran or military family is eligible for a wish, and anyone can nominate them. Simply, visit the Soldier’s Wish website and nominate a hero.

Soldier’s Wish needs volunteers, specifically businesses who want to volunteer their time and efforts for specific projects. Donations are also accepted through their website.
