Tucson travelers will have a new option to fly nonstop to Sacramento next March, when Southwest Airlines plans to launch weekend nonstop service to the California capital. The Saturday and Sunday flights to Sacramento International Airport begin on March 8 and can be booked now through Southwest.com or Flytucson.com . Earlier this summer, Alaska Airlines announced it would add seasonal daily nonstops between the Tucson airport and Sacramento starting in January and continuing through mid-April. Tucson Airport Authority President and CEO Danette Bewley said the authority is pleased local travelers have two options to fly to Sacramento as it continues to work to attract new air service to Tucson. Tucson International Airport is poised to serve nearly 4 million passengers in 2024, with March being the busiest month on record at the airport since 2008.
