Gulfport Hurricane Heroes at Dec. 3 Gulfport City Council

The Council recognized Mark Sieg from the Gulfport Counseling Center for his work after the hurricane. Though Sieg’s home and most everything in it was destroyed by Helene’s floodwaters, he continued to work as a counselor. He held free group therapy sessions for storm victims.

The City also presented the City of Gulfport, MS with an award. Following the storms, the City sent emergency staff and volunteers to support Gulfport, FL. The award recognizes the commitment to assistance demonstrated by the City.

Scott Linde received his award for his work with the Gulfport Merchants Chamber. Although the City nominated him for the award in 2020, he couldn’t receive it because of COVID-19. At the Dec. 3 meeting, the City presented him with his award.
