COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A gradual warm-up will start to take place this weekend going into our next work week!

After a frigid start this morning, we’re looking ahead to a gradual warm up in our first alert forecast that begins this weekend. High temperatures this afternoon are expected to top out in the middle 50s under a mostly sunny sky. Although temperatures won’t get as low, it will get cold overnight as we bottom out near freezing.

Temperatures will finally peak closer to average Sunday afternoon in the lower 60s. Overall, this weekend will be a nice one to get outdoors and enjoy the weather!

Expect it to feel more like spring through much of the week ahead. Highs most days are forecast to rise to the upper 60s to lower 70s across the Midlands. We also expect it to stay relatively quiet during this timeframe as well.

Our next “best” chance to see rain looks to hold off until later next week. A weak incoming front could usher in some showers to the area on Thursday, but chances are currently low with this system (20-30%). In the wake of the front, we’ll likely see a slight drop in temperatures back to the lower 60s by Friday into next weekend.

Sunday: Slightly warmer in the lower 60s.

Monday: Highs in the middle 60s under a mostly sunny sky.

Tuesday: Near 70-degrees with plenty of sunshine around.
