The boys’ basketball matchup between Springfield Central and Putnam on Day 1 of the Hoophall Classic got off to a late start — tipping off just around 10:30 p.m. — but the Golden Eagles showed no signs of fatigue, cruising to a 56-47 victory over the Beavers.

The win was a much-needed redemption for Springfield Central as it finally broke free from Putnam’s grip, the sting of last year’s heartbreaking Hoophall Classic loss still fresh in their minds.
