SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield man has been sentenced after setting fire to a residence in 2024 because he was “in a mood that day.”Online court records show that Bradley James Edmonds pleaded guilty under a plea agreement on Jan. 16, 2025, and was sentenced on March 12 to seven years in prison for second-degree arson.Edmonds set fire to a residence on May 13, 2024. A probable cause statement from the Springfield Fire Department (SFD) says surveillance footage from a nearby building captured a person, later identified as Edmonds, walking up the front steps and sitting on the front porch for about an hour. He then got up and walked the property, and was near the northeast corner of the home about six minutes before flames were visible to the security camera.Documents say Edmonds admitted to investigators that he had lit the fire with a lighter, saying he was “irritated just to be irritated and fire helps me to relieve stress… I was just in a mood that day.”For the latest news, weather, sports, and streaming video, head to KOLR - OzarksFirst.com.
