A local news channel is to be sold to new ownership. WICS News Channel 20 is one of five midwestern television stations that were sold by Sinclair Media Group this week. Here's what we know.
Who is buying WICS News Channel 20?
Todd Parkin, principal owner of limited liability company Rincon Broadcasting Group. Previously, Parkin had close experience with media as senior leadership at Bally’s Sports Networks. Parkin also serves as the managing director of media and is vice president of growth at Atlanta-based Think Consulting.
What stations are being bought?
A total of five stations are being sold from Sinclair to Rincon, including three from Illinois.
How much are the stations selling for?
According to a
purchase agreement filed to the Federal Communication Commission, the five stations will sell for $29.4 million. The FCC must first approve the acquisition. A full service television
assignment of authorization for WICS was made out to the FCC Monday through Rincon Broadcast Group.
