The Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers meet in Game 5 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (TNT / truTV / Max). Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's NHL odds around the Panthers vs. Oilers odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions .

The Panthers went into Game 4 with a 2-1 series lead, and the defending champions had an opportunity to push the Oilers to the brink of elimination. For the first 20 minutes, that's exactly what looked to be on the verge of happening.

Panthers LW Matthew Tkachuk registered a power-play goal at 11:40 of the first period, and he added another score on the man advantage at 16:56 to take a 2-0 lead. C Anton Lundell had an even-strength goal in the final minute, as Florida took a 3-0 lead to the room after 20 minutes.

Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch elected to pull G Stuart Skinner after the first period, allowing 3 goals on 17 shots. G Calvin Pickard came on and finished the game.

In the second period, C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins posted a power-play goal at 3:33 of the second period to slice the lead to 3-1. D Darnell Nurse added a goal at 12:47 to trim the lead further, and RW Vasily Podkolzin scored an even-strength goal at 15:05 of the second to level the game at 3-3.

In the third period, Oilers D Jake Walman , who went ballistic and squirted water at the Panthers bench in Game 2 to pick up a hefty fine, scored an even-strength goal at 13:36 to put the Oilers ahead for the first time. It didn't last, though, as C Sam Reinhart scored with the extra attacker at 19:40 to force overtime.

It didn't take long to get a winner, though, as C Leon Draisaitl scored the winner in overtime to make it 5-4, helping Edmonton level the series, seizing back home-ice advantage. Draisaitl posted the goal and 2 assists, while Nugent-Hopkins and Podkolzin each had a goal and 2 points. C Connor McDavid still has no goals in 4 games in the series, but he did have an assist on Nugent-Hopkins' PPG in the second period.

With the exception of the Game 3 rout by the Panthers, the other 3 games have ended up going to at least 1 overtime. The Over has cashed in each of the 4 games of this series, while going 6-0 this season if you toss in the 2 regular-season battles.

Panthers at Oilers projected goalies

Bobrovsky coughed up 5 goals in Game 4, and he has allowed 4 or more goals in 3 of the 4 starts in this series. It was his first game allowing 5 goals since he also allowed 5 goals in a Game 1 road loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second-round series.

Pickard came on for the second consecutive game. He stopped 22 of 23 shots in the Game 4 victory, and he is a perfect 7-0-0 so far in these playoffs. He joins Grant Fuhr, Bill Ranford and Dwayne Roloson as the only goaltenders in Edmonton franchise history to win at least 7 straight games in the postseason.

Knoblauch hasn't named a started for Game 5, but it's hard to believe he won't go back to Pickard after benching Skinner (7-6-0, 2.99 GAA, .891 SV%, 3 SO - postseason) in each of the past 2 games.

Panthers at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Moneyline

The PANTHERS (-102) are an attractive play as slight underdogs on the road in Game 5.

While Pickard has been an amazing story, there is a reason he isn't a starter. Generally, he is fine in doses. The bottom is likely to fall out sooner or later.

Even after an ugly loss in Game 4, Bobrovsky is still the preferred goaltender after winning the championship last season.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Panthers +1.5 (-250) are way too expensive if you need a little bit of insurance and you just can't bring yourself to pick Florida on the road for some reason.

The Oilers -1.5 (+200) also can't be trusted to win by 2 or more goals, as 3 of 4 games have been decided in overtime.

PASS .

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 ( +100 ) is the lean, but only go with a half-unit play .

We should have had at least 1 Under result so far, but these teams have combined to go 4-0 on the Over in this Stanley Cup Final, while also cashing high in both regular-season meetings. In the 6 meetings this season, we've had an average of 8.3 goals per game (GPG), including 8.0 goals per game in this series.

Go high until we finally get an Under result.
