It turns out the Stanley Hotel is scary in more ways than one.
If you haven't been to the Stanley Hotel, I highly recommend it. It's a relatively short drive from Denver, and you end up in beautiful Estes Park. The history and haunted-ness are enough for people to travel all over the world to experience. But perhaps that's the only reason people are visiting. [gallery ids="19818,19817"] Health inspectors have visited the Stanley Hotel nine times since last July, and there were a whopping 67 citations at their main restaurant, Cascades. Out of the 67 citations, 40 of them were ruled as critical, which requires immediate attention. As if the Stanley couldn't catch a break, they had another surprise inspection on Friday, July 14, that led to their third inadequate review. In health inspector terms, this is the lowest of five one-word ratings given to a restaurant.
As far as future travelers go, Reed Rowley, Stanley Hotel's spokesperson stated:
Stanley Hotel places the highest priority on health and safety. Immediate corrections have been made to address all outstanding items."The violations included: not having a proper amount of soap and towels at employee handwashing stations, employees coming into direct contact with the food, eating in the kitchen, and raw meats being too close to other food. You tell us: which is scarier -- eating at the Cascades or doing a ghost tour!?
