NAMPA – Junior Kyleigh Wolfe scored a game-high 18 points for sixth-seeded Lakeside, which held off seventh-seeded Liberty Charter of Nampa 49-40 in a state 2A girls basketball loser-out game at Columbia High on Friday. “It was good to go out and get a win,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “We didn’t play our best and missed quite a few free throws. But we played well enough to get a win.” Lakeside (14-8) will face Butte County (18-8) in the consolation championship game today at 9 a.m. PST at Columbia High. “They’re a big challenge,” Dohrman said of Butte County. “They’re running 6-foot players across the board, so we’re going to have to rebound. If not, it’s going to be tough. We’re going to have to play better defense. We’ll do the best we can to do that and see if we can’t bring home a trophy.” Freshman Laila Charley scored 10 points for Lakeside, which shot 19 of 56 from the field. “We had some girls that got into some foul trouble,” Dohrman said. “We were subbing offense for defense for a while in the third. But it was a good group effort.” Jennabella Reece scored 13 points for LIberty Charter, which finished 17-7 after winning the District 3 championship.
