Late on Sunday evening, a male bicyclist was struck and killed while riding in the area of MD 589 and Gum Point Road in Berlin, Maryland.

Upon arrival, first responders noticed that the bicyclist had suffered severe trauma and stabilized him for transport. He was transported to nearby Atlantic General Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead when he arrived. Police have identified the victim but have been withholding the bicyclist's name until next of kin can be notified. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
