Pig bowling and puppet shows are on the roster for this spring fling.

Is there a better time of year than spring? We've got warm weather, natural sunlight, and the ability to finally shed those giant puffy coats that make us feel like the Michelin Man. And if there's anywhere we'd want to celebrate this shift, it's the zoo! Bid farewell to freezing temperatures and welcome spring with "Zoo Bloom," featuring Farm Day at The Maryland Zoo.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the zoo's first event of the season will commence with exhibits and treats for people and animals alike. Visitors can observe demos of sheep shearing, goat training, and donkey hoof cleaning, among other spring-cleaning activities.

Watch a puppet show at the Penguin Education Center, or catch a round of pig bowling (truly an event for all ages). Get the full event schedule here. To make the deal even sweeter, you'll also score a slice of Zoo Bloom cake, courtesy of Baltimore's own Charm City Cakes.
