RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB) - Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that three people were arrested in Alexandria following a lengthy pursuit by deputies on February 18.

Reportedly, a Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) unit was patrolling in the Wardville area when they saw a car driving through the area that was the same make and model as one they were advised to be on the lookout for after it was reported stolen in Bossier.

After deputies confirmed that it was indeed the same car, they attempted to pull the driver over. They said the vehicle did not pull over and instead attempted to flee whereafter authorities began their pursuit.

Deputies said the vehicle chase ended in Alexandria after the car’s transmission gave out and the occupants attempted to run away on foot. Two of the occupants were chased down by deputies and RPSO canines while a third was detained after a brief struggle.

Authorities said they later searched the vehicle where they found two handguns and alleged powder cocaine.

All three men were booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
