Police are investigating a string of car break-ins through several neighborhoods in Colorado Springs. The crooks were caught on camera.

One woman told 11 News reporter Katie Pelton that when she went to her car in the morning, she saw her glove compartment and center console were open and had been rummaged through. This is not the first in a string of car break-ins in the area. The break-in occurred last Tuesday off Lexington Drive near Briargate Boulevard. The victim caught the whole thing on camera, and reported that nothing was missing. Her neighbor, unfortunately, was not so lucky. John Tyler reported that around a month ago, his truck was broken into. They stole around $3,000 worth of tools he had in his car, along with some personal items, a backpack, and even some baby clothes and a diaper bag. He also caught the break-in on a surveillance video. The video shows that the thieves are young, anywhere from 14 years old to 20 years old. At least five other neighbors have also had things stolen, though the two who were interviewed admitted to accidentally leaving their cars unlocked on the nights they were broken into.
Anyone who parks outside, remember to lock your car! Don't leave valuables inside your vehicle, and take your garage door opener inside with you at night. If your car has been broken into recently or if you have any information about the suspects, please call the Colorado Springs police department at (719) 444-7000. Featured photo courtesy of 11 News.
