WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - It is a mostly cloudy, but otherwise quiet Friday morning across Kansas, but that will soon change. Showers and storms are possible across central and eastern Kansas this afternoon. While those storms are not expected to be severe, additional storms this evening over northwest Kansas may produce large hail and damaging wind gusts.

Showers and storms, possibly severe over western Kansas this evening will move across the state tonight into early Saturday morning. After a mainly dry Saturday afternoon, another batch of storms will move across the state tomorrow night into Sunday morning. While areas of heavy rain are likely, widespread severe is not expected.

A good supply of clouds will keep temperatures on the cooler side all weekend long. Highs mainly in the 60s and lower 70s are ten to twenty degrees below normal for late May. Summer may unofficially start this weekend, but the forecast says otherwise.

Additional rounds of rain and storms Sunday night into Monday morning, and possibly Monday evening will be followed by more tranquil weather conditions next week. A few storms are possible, mainly out west on Wednesday, but most will stay dry. Temperatures below normal most of the week will warm into the 80s by next weekend.
