The restaurants are gearing up for summer as they reopen stores across North America.

If you lost or had your reduced hours due to pandemic, there are two companies looking to hire over 300,000 people this summer. Subway and McDonald’s have announced they will be hiring thousands of extra people to help handle the extra volume created by curbside and delivery services. Even as states open up and restaurants reopen dining rooms, large segments of the population are still more comfortable using curbside pickup and delivery. McDonald’s plans to hire 260,000 people, and Subway expects to hire around 50,000 people.

Subway is hiring full-time and part-time employees for both entry-level and management positions. The company has implemented safety procedures to protect both employees and customers.

“As our business continues to see growing demand for our value offerings, curbside and pick-up and delivery, we are happy to support such a large scale employment opportunity to meet the needs of our guests,” said Aidan Hay, Subway Vice President of Operations for North America.

McDonald’s stores across the nation remained open during the pandemic, but removed items from the menu including salads and grilled chicken sandwiches. All-day breakfast has also been eliminated for the time being. Full- and part-time positions will be available, and employees that work as little as 15 hours a week are eligible for $2,500 in college tuition assistance.

“We are excited to welcome new employees to our McFamily, and we want candidates and their families to know we have one goal – to keep our people safe.  We’ve put new minimum national standards and nearly 50 new processes in place in our restaurants as they continue to re-open safely and judiciously,” said Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA.

Some of the company’s safety measures include temperature checks, protective barriers at cash registers, and gloves and masks for all employees. To submit an application, go to McDonalds.com/careers or ask the Alexa or Google digital assistants to start an application for you.
