TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The good news is today will be dry with all the rain in southeast KS in the morning. It will be hot today and tomorrow with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the upper 80s-low 90s for most spots. The attention then turns to storms that may be strong to severe between Monday night through Tuesday night. Heat is the main concern for much of the forecast period in the next 8 days but also the risk of rain and storms Monday night through Tuesday night. Heavy rain is a concern with many spots getting 0.5”-2” of rain with some areas getting 2” to even up to 4”. This will be part of the forecast we’ll have to fine tune through tomorrow so check back often for updates. Today: Despite a few afternoon clouds, it’ll generally be mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 80s-low 90s. Winds SE/E 5-10 mph. Tonight: Partly Cloudy. Lows in the mid 60s. Calm wind. Tomorrow: Mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the low-mid 90s. Winds S 5-10 mph. Tuesday’s temperatures will be dependent on rain, highs may remain in the 80s if morning activity lingers or reach the low-mid 90s again if it ends up drying out. Highs humidity is expected no matter what on Tuesday so that’s when the higher likelihood of triple digit heat indices will occur. A cold front Tuesday night will usher in a cool down with a drop in humidity for Wednesday before gradually heating back up toward the end of the week and weekend with dry conditions. Only 1 of the 3 models is indicating a low rain chances mainly Thursday night and again Saturday morning but will keep it dry in the 8 day for now.
