The Phoenix Suns were arguably the most disappointing team of the 2024-25 NBA season. The Suns came into it with hopes of competing for the title but finished 11th in the Western Conference with a 36-46 record.

Team owner Mat Ishbia had stated that changes were coming after a poor season like this one, and head coach Mike Budenholzer has already been fired. The next individual who appears to be headed to the exit door is a much bigger name, Kevin Durant .

The Suns attempted to trade Durant before this year's trade deadline and are expected to part ways with him this offseason. NBA insider Marc Stein has listed the Minnesota Timberwolves , New York Knicks , Miami Heat , and the San Antonio Spurs as the most frequently cited potential suitors for the 15-time All-Star.

Durant joined the Suns in 2023 to much fanfare, but the team hasn't had much success in his time there. He has averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game as a Sun but has won just one playoff series in two and a half seasons.

The Suns look set to end the Durant era soon enough, but they are reportedly looking to bring in another individual who has had a lot of success with the Golden State Warriors . According to Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic , Ishbia wants former Warriors General Manager Bob Myers to be part of their front office.

"Sources informed The Arizona Republic earlier this week the Suns will likely look to add someone to the front office. They currently have James Jones working a general manager and team president and CEO Josh Bartelstein.

"The two have collaborated with team owner Mat Ishbia on basketball personnel decisions, but sources also informed The Republic that Ishbia has been “pushing hard” to get Myers."

Myers became the Warriors' GM in 2012 and was named president of basketball operations in 2016. He held both roles through the 2022-23 season and opted to step down after that campaign.

The Warriors won four NBA titles (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) during Myers' tenure, and he was named Executive of the Year twice (2015, 2017) as well. The 50-year-old would be a great addition to the Suns' front office, but Rankin added that he is enjoying spending time with his family.

Myers has been working as an NBA analyst for ESPN since 2023 and as a consultant for the NFL 's Washington Commanders since 2024.
