As the Gold Coast braced for its first tropical cyclone in 50 years, staff at Sea World were preparing for the worst.

The park has a population of more than 20 dolphins who are dependent on finely calibrated filtration systems for survival. Too much rain can disrupt the salinity levels, with potentially deadly consequences.
