The mid-Atlantic loves its seafood—think crab cakes and fried catfish—but it also really likes barbecue. Thankfully, you don't have to choose between the two when The Fishin' Pig is around, and lucky for us, they're expanding their tasty offerings in the Virginia area!

The surf n' turf establishment opened in 2013 under two restauranteurs, Matt Hurley of Grady's BBQ and Nash Osborne of seafood eatery Shorty's. With their expertise in Memphis-style barbecue and fried fish, they joined forces opening locations in Farmville and Waynesboro. Now, a third spot is on the way to Norfolk.

The new joint will reside on 115 W. 25th Street in the Railroad District. Considering summer is the season of barbecue, this news couldn't come at a better time!

Operating under the tagline "Eat like a pig, drink like a fish!" diners can experience the best of both worlds. For first-time customers, their Fishin' Pig Favorites section of the menu is a good place to start.

Grady's Smoke Shack Sampler is a meat lover's dream with ribs, pulled pork, smoked wings, beef brisket, and andouille sausage, complete with hush puppies and slaw on the side. For seafood, the catfish flavored with Shorty's seasoning mix is always a hit. Specials are offered throughout the week including Rib Night on Tuesday and Catfish Fry on Thursdays. Plus, you can wash it all down with one (or two) of their mason jar cocktails or craft brews.

Local reports show construction is more than underway, and we're really digging the vibe. Located in a former plumbing house, it has a laidback, rustic aesthetic and contains ample bar space. Between the delicious food and hip dwellings, we are ready to pig out!
