The next time you're about to unravel that $12 burrito you just have to share on Instagram, you can use that meal to make a difference for humanity.

Until Labor Day, Virginia Beach residents are encouraged to post pictures of their food -- for a good cause.

The Virginia Beach Restaurant Association (VBRA) and its participating restaurants are partnering with the Foodbank of Virginia and the Eastern Shore for the #ShareYourPlate initiative, promising to donate one meal for every post captioned #ShareYourPlate.

Basically, in order to participate, you:

1. Go to a VBRA-participating restaurant.

2. Take a picture of your meal for Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.

3. When you post it, tag your restaurant location and use the hashtag #ShareYourPlate.

At the end of the promotion on Labor Day, the Virginia Beach Restaurant Association will tally the number of social media posts captioned with #ShareYourPlate and donate one meal for every post to the Virginia Food Bank.

You can find a VBRA participating restaurant in your area here.

Hampton Roads restaurants promising to participate include Java Surf, Esoteric, Chix Seaside Grille, 1608 Crafthouse, 11th Street Taphouse, Waterman’s Surfside Grille, and Ice House Restaurant, among others.
