WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - Wichita Falls native Taliyah Brooks shined on day one of the World Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The World Championships are being held in China.

Brooks placed third in the Pentathlon with 4,669 points.

Her performance is the best by an American in the event since DeDee Nathan won the world title in 1999.

Her 4,669 points puts her 8th on the All-Time list.
