SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The non-profit Tapestry Health has three months to find a new location for its Mason Square WIC office in Springfield. This office on Wilbraham Road has been part of the Springfield community for nearly 20 years. But Baystate Health, which owns the property, has recently decided not to renew the lease. Since thousands of people in the area access food nutrition assistance from that location…Tapestry Health is now looking to local organizations and the community for any leads on a potential new home. The CEO of Tapestry Health says there’s no interruption to services at this time. But if they don’t find a facility in time ..they’re going to find an alternative solution, like offering services through a hybrid model. “A good percentage of the people that we do see use public transportation. It’s very walkable. It’ll be a challenge if we have to move to other parts of the area for access and transportation issues.” There is also a second WIC office on Main Street in Springfield. 22News reached out to Baystate Health on their response to the situation but is still waiting to hear back. Tapestry Health will also be holding a fundraiser on April 4th at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, for those who want to make monetary donations.
