WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Our Monday will be like Mother’s Day. Wake-up temperatures in the lower 50s will climb into the lower 80s underneath mainly sunny skies. After another clear comfortable night in the 50s, temperatures will trend higher, into the middle 80s on Tuesday. Wednesday will be hot as temperatures top-out in the lower 90s, or fifteen degrees above average for middle May. If Wichita can make it to 94 degrees, we will tie the record high from 2018. A weak cold front moving across Kansas Wednesday night will usher in slightly cooler temperatures in in the lower to middle 80s Thursday and Friday. However, no rain or storms are expected with its passage. Looking ahead… a stronger storm system is scheduled to arrive this weekend, and with it comes better chances of showers and storms. While the exact details like timing and severity are uncertain, the risk of heavy rain and strong storms is climbing. Fri: Low: 57. High: 85. Mostly sunny. Sat: Low: 57. High: 86. Mostly sunny; isolated overnight storms.
