ROCKVILLE, Md. — A 17-year-old male from Frederick, Maryland, is facing felony charges after allegedly pointing a loaded handgun at a woman during a road rage incident Monday afternoon on I-270, Maryland State Police said.
Key Points
The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on March 31 near Falls Road in Montgomery County. The victim, who was not injured, told troopers that the teen brandished a firearm during the altercation. She provided information that helped law enforcement quickly identify the suspect’s vehicle. Maryland State Police troopers from the Rockville Barrack, with assistance from the Highway Gun Crimes Initiative and Frederick Barrack, located and stopped the vehicle shortly afterward. A loaded handgun was recovered in plain sight inside the vehicle, authorities said. The teen, whose name is being withheld due to his age, was charged as an adult with felony assault, using a firearm during the commission of a felony, and multiple weapons violations. He is currently being held without bond at a secure juvenile facility following a bail review hearing in Montgomery County District Court. Police continue to investigate gun violence incidents on Maryland highways and are urging anyone with information regarding ongoing cases, including the murders of Delonte Hicks, Charles Marks, and Nyah Hairston, to contact investigators.
