An Alexandria teen facing a maximum prison sentence of 99 years on Wednesday spurned a plea offer of probation, although the Rapides Parish District Attorney's Office is leaving the offer open.

To accept the deal, 17-year-old Josiah Gray also would have to agree to testify against the other two defendants in the case, Marcel Jones, 19, and 23-year-old Myron Diavion Jones.

All three face a felony charge of armed robbery with a firearm in connection to a Sept. 30, 2023, robbery of an individual, according to the bill of information filed against them by the DA's office in November 2023.

The maximum penalty for armed robbery is 99 years, according to the Louisiana Legislative website.

Gordon was 16 at the time of the incident, but the decision was made to try him as an adult. He appeared Wednesday before 9th Judicial District Court Patricia Koch with his attorney, Tiffany Sanders.

Prosecutor Brian Cespiva told Koch that Gordon had rejected his plea offer, but it was being kept open through March 19.

Sanders said her client was young, and she thanked Cespiva for agreeing to keep the offer open. A status conference was set for March 19.

Marcel Jones was to have had a status conference on Feb. 20, according to online Rapides Parish Clerk of Court records, but no update was available on Thursday.

A Wednesday pretrial conference for Myron Jones was continued until March 19.
