The NFL free agency window is open, and the Tennessee Titans are among the league's most active and intriguing teams to follow.

As of 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday, NFL teams were able to begin signing free agents who formerly played for other teams. Possessing more than $50 million in salary cap space and with plenty of needs across the entire roster, the Titans have the flexibility and the necessity to be major players in these markets.

The Titans began the free agency window by making big moves to bring in offensive linemen like Dan Moore Jr. , and Kevin Zeitler, as well as defenders like Dre'Mont Jones and Cody Barton. The Titans also made a trade to move linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for moving up 51 picks on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Follow along below throughout the week as the Tennessee Titans and the rest of the NFL navigate the early days of free agency.

Tennessee Titans free agency 2025 live updates: Latest NFL news, signings, trades, rumors

The Titans officially announced the signings of offensive linemen Dan Moore Jr., Kevin Zeitler and Blake Hance, linebacker Cody Barton and punter Johnny Hekker early Thursday morning, beginning the declaration period for their free agent additions being actually added to the roster.

The Titans haven't officially announced any of their free agent moves yet, though those announcements can come as soon as players arrive in Nashville to sign their contracts. Still, here are the moves the Titans are expected to announce in the coming days and hours: OT Dan Moore Jr., OG Kevin Zeitler, OL Blake Hance, WR Van Jefferson, DL Dre'Mont Jones, LB Cody Barton, S Xavier Woods, P Johnny Hekker.

The Titans' primary remaining needs include: quarterback, edge rusher, wide receiver, inside linebacker. The team could also stand to add depth or help at running back, tight end, interior defensive line and safety as well as another backup at offensive tackle.

Here are the top 25 free agents who remain unsigned, per NFL.com.

Per ESPN and NFL Network, the Titans are adding veteran guard Kevin Zeitler to complete their offensive line. Zeitler is a 13-year vet who's played for a lot of winning football teams lately, having spent his recent years in Baltimore and Detroit. Now the Titans can slot him in at right guard alongside tackles Dan Moore Jr., and JC Latham, guard Peter Skoronski and center Lloyd Cushenberry III and feel pretty good about their starting five without having to worry about the NFL draft.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Titans are in the process of trading linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr., to the Dallas Cowboys for an undisclosed "pick swap" of NFL draft selections.

Free agents who have agreed to contracts in the last two-plus days can now officially sign with teams beyond their former squad. Expect announcements to begin trickling in confirming some of the news that's been reported since Monday, but don't expect all of it to come all at once.

A source told The Tennessee on Wednesday the Titans don't expect many (or any) of their free agent adds to rush into Nashville this afternoon to sign contracts as soon as allowed. The announcements should come shortly, but they can't come until contracts are officially signed. So don't get anxious, but also don't expect all that many major press releases to come from Titans HQ this afternoon.

Marcus Mariota, who was once the centerpiece of a Tennessee Titans rebuild, will not be a part of a second Titans rebuild. NFL Network is reporting that Mariota will return to D.C. to be the backup quarterback for the Washington Commanders for a second-straight year. Mariota will reportedly sign a one-year, $8 million deal.

The Titans have still not signed a quarterback through the early days of free agency.

ESPN's Mike Clay is updating his unit rankings and season projections live based off NFL free agency moves. Taking a look at the Titans... it's not good.

Based on the early free agency moves according to Clay's algorithm, the Titans have the worst weighted roster in the NFL. That includes having the 29th-ranked offense and 26th-ranked defense. The edge rusher unit is tied for the worst in the league and their quarterback projections rank ahead of only Cleveland and the New York Giants. That said, the defensive interior is tied for the best in the league and the cornerbacks are ranked among the league's best.

The Titans are bringing in offensive lineman Blake Hance, a veteran who's played all three offensive line positions in his career, most recently for the Jacksonville Jaguars. A source tells The Tennessean that Hance will be given the opportunity to compete for a starting role but is also an option to be a rotational sixth-man piece who backs up the starters. Hance has worked with Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan in both Washington and Cleveland, starting eight games for the Commanders in 2021, and worked with offensive coordinator Nick Holz in Jacksonville in 2023, where he played in all 17 games and started one.

Van Jefferson, a five-year NFL veteran who most recently played with the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be joining the Titans' receiver room per a source. Jefferson's dad Shawn was the Titans' receivers coach from 2013-15 and Jefferson went to high school at Ravenwood. After putting up 802 yards and six touchdowns in 2021, Jefferson hasn't surpassed 400 yards or 25 catches in any of the three seasons since.

Here are the top 25 free agents who remain unsigned a little bit after 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, per NFL.com.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins, formerly of the Tennessee Titans will be signing with the Baltimore Ravens on a 1-year deal. In doing so, Hopkins will reunite with former Titans teammate Derrick Henry, one of the star players on the Ravens' dominant offense. Call it a double gut-punch for Titans fans.

A source confirmed to The Tennessean on Tuesday that the team is bringing in veteran safety Xavier Woods to help in their back end. Woods will join Amani Hooker and Mike Brown as the deep defenders in the secondary. Woods played a career year with 119 tackles and three interceptions last season, both either setting or matching career highs.

A source confirmed to The Tennessean that the Titans did not tender restricted free agent linebacker Jack Gibbens, who has been a rotational starter for the Titans over the past two seasons. This will make Gibbens an unrestricted free agent who is free to sign elsewhere in the same way that Ryan Stonehouse is.

Wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine , one of the only constants in Titans football over the last five years, is with the team no more. NFL Network is reporting that Westbrook-Ikhine is signing a two-year contract with the Miami Dolphins for $6.5 million total. That's not a huge contract, and certainly one that the Titans could've stomached, so it'll be interesting to see what the Titans' plans are at wide receiver without the player who's played more games than any Titan over the last five seasons.

Jacoby Brissett, one of the most sought-after journeyman backup quarterbacks in the league, will reportedly be signing with the Arizona Cardinals as Kyler Murray's backup. That takes another backup quarterback off the market for the Titans, who head into the third day of free agency with only one quarterback on roster: Will Levis.

Johnny Hekker, a six-time All Pro and four-time Pro Bowl punter, will replace Ryan Stonehouse as the Titans' next punter, per a report from ESPN. Hekker and Titans special teams coordinator John Fassel have history together, having worked together with the Rams from 2012-19.

Justin Reid, one of the best available players at any position, will reportedly sign with the New Orleans Saints per ESPN. More than just being one of the best players available, Reid is also one of the best players available at a major position of need for the Titans. With Reid, Jevon Holland, Trevon Moehrig and Talanoa Hufanga all signing elsewhere, the Titans' options are limited in the back end.

Former Titans linebacker and special teams specialist Luke Gifford is signing a one-year contract with the 49ers, per NFL Network. Gifford made 55 tackles in two seasons with the Titans, including being the team's leader in special teams tackles in 2024.

The Titans are bringing back safety Mike Brown via a contract extension. Brown has been with the team since 2022 and has started five games. Last season he appeared in all 17 games and made 49 tackles. He joins Amani Hooker as the rostered safeties the Titans have under contract.

Stonehouse, one of the best and most productive punters in the NFL, will become an unrestricted free agent as the Titans are choosing not to extend him a tender on his restricted free agent contract, Stonehouse's agent confirmed to The Tennessean. There goes one of the best players the Titans had.

His 2024 was a little bit down compared to 2022 and 2023 coming off the knee injury he sustained the previous year. But he still averaged more than 50 yards per punt and set some of his best marks when it came to avoiding touchbacks. Now the Titans can add "need a punter" to their growing list of holes.

The Titans have only agreed to deals with three non-returning players through the first 30ish hours of free agency negotiations. How's that compare to the rest of the league?

Well... there are plenty of other teams that have had slow starts to free agency. Baltimore, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Denver, the Chargers, Philadelphia, Washington, Detroit, Green Bay, Atlanta, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Arizona, the Rams and Seattle have all brought in fewer newcomers than the Titans via free agency, though some of those teams have infused talent into their roster via trades.

The Titans are roughly league average so far having made three moves. The difference? The Titans don't have a roughly league average roster. They're leaving a lot of talent on the table so far without much talent under contract.

Kristian Fulton, a former Titans cornerback who spent 2024 with the Los Angeles Chargers, is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs per reports. Fulton struggled with injuries throughout his Titans tenure but set new career highs for games played in 2024, giving him the opportunity to land with Kansas City. Funnily enough, Fulton's role could end up being as a replacement for L'Jarius Sneed, who the Titans replaced Fulton with in 2024.

The Titans haven't addressed all too many of their needs through free agency, and that's hardly a surprise. The Titans say they want to be a draft-and-develop team, so they'll put the impetus on the rookies and coaches to find talent. That said, there's no world where the Titans can fix all their holes with one NFL draft. So expect the team to be a little more active as free agency goes on.

ESPN and NFL Network are reporting that the Indianapolis Colts are signing former New York Giants starter Daniel Jones as a quarterback option. Jones will compete with Anthony Richardson on that Colts' roster, bolstering coach Shane Steichen's offensive unit.

The list of backup quarterback options available is still strong, but Jones was one of the strongest candidates.

After trading away star left tackle Laremy Tunsil Monday, the Texans traded away another starting offensive linemen on Tuesday. The Titans' division rival are shipping guard Kenyon Green to the Super Bowl champs in Philadelphia in exchange for defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson and a pick swap.

Let's use this trade as an opportunity to check in on the Titans' compatriots in the AFC South. Houston hasn't been particularly active with bringing in new players; the biggest names they've brought in are WR Braxton Berrios and DL Sheldon Rankins. Jacksonville has been more aggressive, using the money they found by moving on from veterans like Evan Engram and Christian Kirk to bring in CB Jourdan Lewis and offensive linemen Patrick Mekari and Robert Hainsey. The Colts have invested in their secondary, bringing in Cam Bynum and Charvarius Ward, but this. has been at the expense of losing offensive linemen Will Fries and Ryan Kelly.

There are other options, such as Kirk Cousins, who the Atlanta Falcons could release but haven't publicly said they want to. And, obviously, the Titans have choices at the top of the NFL draft, starting with Miami's Cam Ward.

Will Fries, one of the top interior offensive linemen left on the market, will be signing a massive contract with the Minnesota Vikings per multiple reports. The Vikings are pretty active in the free agent market after missing out on Sam Darnold, as they're also reportedly bringing in defensive linemen Jonathan Allen and Javon Kinlaw.

Reports surfaced late last week that the Titans had interest in signing former Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland, but Holland will be heading farther north. Multiple national media sources are reporting that Holland is signing with the New York Giants on a three-year, $45 million deal to make him one of the richest safeties in the league.

Plenty of big names are still signable on the market 24 hours into the NFL negotiation window. Here are the 25 best players who remain unsigned per NFL.com.

Former Titans coach Mike Vrabel and his New England Patriots have been the busiest team on the market Monday. The Patriots have reportedly agreed to terms with DT Milton Williams, CB Carlton Davis, LB Robert Spillane, OLB Harold Landry III, OT Morgan Moses, DL Khyiris Tonga, QB Joshua Dobbs and WR Mack Hollins. Williams, Davis, Spillane and Landry all ranked among the top 65 free agents available coming into the week per NFL.com.

ESPN and NFL Network are reporting that former first-round pick Zach Wilson, who played for the Denver Broncos last year, is signing with the Miami Dolphins to be Tua Tagovailoa's backup. Wilson previously started for the New York Jets , who selected him No. 2 overall in 2021.

The Titans will be bringing in linebacker Cody Barton , formerly of Seattle, Washington and Denver, on a three-year contract worth $21 million per NFL Network. Barton, 28, started 14 games for the Broncos last season, totaling 106 tackles. He's logged at least 100 tackles each of the last three seasons, albeit for three different teams.

Per national reports, the Houston Texans are trading five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders. The Texans are receiving a third-round pick this year and second- and fourth-round picks in 2026, while the Commanders are receiving Tunsil and a fourth-round pick, per NFL Network. This trade reinforces the fact that Houston needs to rebuild its offensive line to protect young quarterback C.J. Stroud, and should get the Titans excited about their options if and when they rebuild their pass rush units.

Long snapper Morgan Cox, offensive lineman Andrew Rupcich and cornerback Darrell Baker Jr., are all returning to the Titans per team announcements. Baker and Rupcich were exclusive rights free agents, meaning the team would've had the right to match or counter any offer made to these players if they hit the free market. Instead, they return to the Titans to resume their reserve roles.

Aaron Banks, one of the top interior offensive linemen available, is signing with the Green Bay Packers per a report from NFL Network. Patrick Mekari, another guard prospect who could've helped the Titans up front, is reportedly signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the Titans signing Dan Moore at tackle, the money might be thin to also devote to finding a starting guard. But there are plenty of other options available for short-term deals, including veterans like Kevin Zeitler and Brandon Scherff and younger players like Will Fries.

A source confirmed to The Tennessean that Titans defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day will be resigning with the team. Joseph-Day was a starter on the Titans' defensive line along with Jeffery Simmons and T'Vondre Sweat, and now he'll return for more depth in a unit that also returns Keondre Coburn.

Former Eagles pass rusher Josh Sweat is signing a four-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals per reports, taking one of the top free agent players and the best regarded pass rusher on the market off the board. After Sweat, some of the top pass rushers remaining include Joey Bosa, Za'Darius Smith and Chase Young.

NFL Network and ESPN are reporting that Justin Fields is making the jump from Pittsburgh to New York to replace Aaron Rodgers as the new quarterback of the New York Jets. Fields never made much sense as a fit in the Titans' offense, but that's another domino falling that makes clearer what the Titans' plans can be at quarterback in 2025.

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly agreed to terms with quarterback Sam Darnold , taking the top free agent quarterback off the market for the Titans. Darnold is reportedly signing a three-year deal worth $100.5 million. The Titans' options for starting-caliber QBs still available in free agency include Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields.

NFL Network is reporting that Milton Williams, the top defensive tackle on the market and one of the top defensive players overall, is signing with the New England Patriots. Mike Vrabel is spending the Patriots' large supply of salary cap money available to rebuild the team in his image, and now he adds a player who helped as one of the engines of Philadelphia's Super Bowl winning defense.

The New York Giants are reportedly bringing in Paulson Adebo from New Orleans while former Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis is heading to Jacksonville and New England is bringing in Carlton Davis, formerly of Detroit. These top defensive backs comprise most of the top of the market.

Continuing New England's big day of spending, Mike Vrabel's squad is also bringing in veteran offensive tackle Morgan Moses, pulling him across the division from the New York Jets.

The Titans are reportedly bringing in Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Dan Moore on a four-year, $82 million contract. Moore has started 66 games for the Steelers in the last four seasons and now joins 2024 first-round pick JC Latham as the Titans' bookend tackles. Moore has almost exclusively played left tackle since entering the league, creating intrigue about whether Latham will stick at left tackle or move back to right tackle, where he played in college.

The Titans are loading up on the offensive line, agreeing to terms with Steelers LT Dan Moore on a 4-year, $82M deal with $50M guaranteed and $30M in Year 1, sources say. The deal done by Jeff Nalley of CAA is the biggest for a tackle thus far.

The Patriots are adding linebacker Robert Spillane, an undrafted free agent who the Titans signed in 2018. Spillane made his NFL debut with the Titans that season, playing in two games in Vrabel's first season as Titans coach. He's gone on to bigger and better things in the years since and now reunites with Vrabel (and fellow Class of 2018 Titans linebacker Harold Landry III) in New England.

Jimmy Garoppolo is staying with the Los Angeles Rams per a report NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, taking away the first veteran quarterback option from the Titans.

The interior defensive line market wasn't super stacked this season, and some of the biggest names are already finding homes. Kinlaw is joining the Washington Commanders, and Hill is re-signing with the Cincinnati Bengals per reports.

Some of the biggest names who've come off the market in the first minutes of the free agency window include receiver Chris Godwin, who is resigning with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and offensive linemen Jaylon Moore and Drew Dalman. Dalman, a center, is reportedly signing with the Chicago Bears. And Moore, a tackle who's primarily been a reserve in San Francisco, is signing a big contract to play for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The negotiation window is officially open, meaning teams can begin extending offers to players who will become free agents on Wednesday. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the first big move of the day, with former New York Jets pass rusher Hasson Reddick going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year deal.

Arguably the biggest-named edge rusher on the market, Khalil Mack appears to have never reached the market at all. Mack will be resigning with the Chargers per multiple media reports. The deal is reportedly for one year and $18 million.

NFL insider Aaron Wilson is reporting the Titans have resigned free agent long snapper Morgan Cox to a one-year deal. Cox has been the Titans' long snapper since 2021 and was a Pro Bowler in 2022. Cox, 38, is a five-time Pro Bowler.

Before the free agency window opens Monday, gigantic NFL news shook up the market over the weekend. This included major Seattle Seahawks trades that sent quarterback Geno Smith to Las Vegas and receiver DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh, the Cleveland Browns finding the money to make defensive end Myles Garrett the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history and the Los Angeles Rams inking a deal with star receiver Davante Adams.

Pertinent to the Titans, the Ravens brought back left tackle Ronnie Stanley, the Chiefs re-signed linebacker Nick Bolton and former Titans linebacker Harold Landry III signed a deal to reunite with former Titans coach Mike Vrabel and play for the New England Patriots .

Titans free agency needs: Sam Darnold, Cam Robinson, DeAndre Hopkins, Haason Reddick

The Titans' biggest needs this offseason are quarterback, right tackle, pass rusher, wide receiver and right guard. The team also could use help at safety, inside linebacker and interior defensive line, and could be looking for depth pieces at tight end and running back.

The Titans own the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, as well as pick No. 35 in the second round. First-year general manager Mike Borgonzi and president of football operations Chad Brinker have spoken extensively about wanting to practice patience and selectiveness in free agency instead of targeting the top players available at all positions of need and spending big sums to attract them to Nashville.

Sam Darnold, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, NFL free agent QB market

The quarterback market figures to be as active as it has been in recent memory. Darnold escaped into free agency without being franchise-tagged by the Minnesota Vikings, making him the top passer on the board. But Rodgers and Wilson will be attractive options for teams looking for short-term options, and several other starter-caliber or priority backup options will be available.

The market could get even more dense if the Atlanta Falcons decide to move on from veteran Kirk Cousins. Combine those possibilities with the fact that quarterbacks like Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders will be available in the draft and there may be more available starting-caliber quarterbacks than there are teams with needs, a huge reality for the Titans.
