Texas A&M (27-21, 10-15) endured some major damage to its postseason hopes on Friday night after losing to last-place Missouri 9-6 in one of the more disastrous meltdowns of the season, as the Aggies led 6-1 heading into the fourth inning, only to be out-scored 8-0, including six runs in the top of the ninth.

Yes, this is baseball where anything can happen on any given night, but losing to the worst team in the conference, who entered 0-24 in SEC play isn't just embarrassing, but could be the reason the Aggies are left out of the NCAA Tournament. No, this is not hyperbole, as several baseball analysts, including D1Baseball's Kendall Rogers, have stated that by no means is Texas A&M guaranteed a spot in the regional round after falling to the Tigers.

Moreso, the Aggies dropped 11 spots in the RPI standings after Friday's loss from 35 to 46th, and even with a series win, Texas A&M will likely need a series win over the Georgia Bulldogs during the regular season finale on the road. However, there is always the SEC Tournament, but if the Aggies don't build a winning streak, I don't see the selection committee looking past the program's ugly record combined with the Missouri loss.

Texas A&M's offense stalled out after scoring five runs off three home runs in the bottom of the third, and while Missouri's pitching staff tightened up, the Aggies' lack of hitting after exploding early is just confusing and directly led to the Tiger's confidence down the stretch.

Texas A&M will host Missouri in Game 2 on Saturday, May 10 at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will stream on SEC Network+.
