WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - After nearly two years of delay due to a lawsuit against the Texas Education Agency, long-awaited test scores for schools are out. The scores are an accountability rating, based on an A-F scale to assess student performance from the 2022-2023 schoolyear. Six Region 9 schools - the region WFISD and many local districts are located in - received the lowest grade of F. Four of those schools were WFISD schools - Kate Burgess, Cunningham, Lamar and Scotland Park elementary schools. A statement from the district decried the release of the data, saying it was outdated and ineffective. “This is the equivalent of moving the goalposts after the game has already been played. Now, nearly two years later, the state is releasing ratings based on outdated data that no longer reflects current student performance and the realities in our classrooms,” the statement said.
