With a win over Texas Tech Friday and Oklahoma State's win over Oklahoma, the Texas softball team moved into a tie with the Sooners for first place in the Big 12 standings.

The No. 1 Longhorns (43-6, 21-4 Big 12) blasted host Texas Tech 13-3 in a game shortened to five innings by the run rule. Leighann Good got the start at second base in place of Alyssa Washington and had 4 RBIs on two hits with two runs scored, and shortstop Vivi Martinez and outfielder Bella Dayton each added three RBIs.

Freshman pitcher Teagan Kavan came on in the second inning after starter Mac Morgan allowed two hits and two runs, and Kavan scatted four hits across four innings to earn the win.

While Texas handled its business in the first game of the regular-season series finale, No. 4 Oklahoma State (43-8, 20-5) opened its Bedlam series against No. 2 Oklahoma (45-5, 21-4) with a 6-3 win.

If Texas shares the regular-season title with OU, the Longhorns will enter the Big 12 Tournament on May 8-11 in Oklahoma City as the top seed since they beat the Sooners in their season series. However, if Oklahoma State ties Texas in the standings, the Cowgirls would get the tiebreaker because they won that season series.

If all three teams finish tied for the conference title, the league will use run differentials in conference games to determine the tournament seedings.

Texas hasn't won or shared a regular-season Big 12 softball title since 2010.
