With the help of a $25,000 grant, Arlington Cultural Affairs has launched the new Arlington Art Truck.

With the April 4 launch and debut of their art truck, Arlington Cultural Affairs has started to bring art to the community. The Arlington Art Truck is a mobile art installation which is designed to provide local area residents with the opportunity to view the finished works of artists, as well as watch artworks being made, and participate in interactive activities. The purpose of the art truck is to engage the community in the arts. It was made possible via a $25,000 federal grant Arlington County received from the National Endowment for the Arts last December, which the county matched with its own funding. The Arlington Art Truck made its debut at the Crosshairs Garage Races in Crystal City on April 4, with an interactive activity named "Bidpedal Soundscapes." Created by Emily Francisco and Alex Braden, Bidpedal Soundscapes is a stationary bicycle which activates a five-tiered turntable and creates a soundscape for the rider.

Vinyl records on the turntable can be played at either slower or faster than normal speeds which creates a unique aural experience that caters to the rider’s preference.
