CASPER — Normally, when someone tells you something is going to be a three-ring circus, it is a bad thing. But if you are looking for a traditional circus, you probably can't do any better.

At 6:30 p.m. tonight and Wednesday, "one of North America's premier three-ring circuses" will perform at the Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo Arena in Casper, said Delisa Jordan, one of a host of family members who keep the Jordan World Circus on the road and thrilling fans in the ring. "We are probably one of the top three."

Performing as the Casper Shrine Circus, the Jordan World Circus will bring a full-fledged circus town, Jordan said.

"We have elephants, camels and buffalo — which are really cool," she said. "We also have horses, aerialists, acrobats, and clowns. We have everything you would expect to see from a traveling circus."

The buffalos are a new addition to the show that spectators who might have seen the circus on its previous visits to Casper won't have seen before, Jordan said.

"We are really excited," she said. "This is different — not something you see — something new."

The circus is the effort of 75 to 100 people, Jordan said, including her brother, Jody, who owns the circus, her nephews and their children.

"My brother is the owner of the circus and his own family is there," she said. "His sons and his grandchildren. It is a family-run business. I run the front end, and he runs the back end."

"Even his grandchildren go in the show."

Her nephews and their wives are aerialists.

For the grandkids, two grandsons and two granddaughters between the ages of five and seven, performing isn't mandatory, but it does seem to be in the blood.

"Sailor, that's my nephew's daughter. She's been practicing since she was old enough to walk," Delisa Jordan said.

Circus goers will likely spot her performing with Hula Hoops or assisting her parents or uncles and aunts.

"My brother and I are third generation," Delisa Jordan said. "Nephews fourth generation, grandchildren five."

Jody and Delisa's parents were also aerialists, and her father purchased the circus.

"We've had the show for about 36 years," Delisa said. "Can't believe it's been that long. Time flies."

Especially, perhaps, when the family business is flying through the air.

The two-hour show includes a 15-minute intermission, and there will be cotton candy, snow cones and other "goodies" for sale.

"We have elephant rides and camel rides and a moon bounce and face painting," Delisa said.

While aerialists soar overhead, daredevils will perform, well, perhaps just a little closer to ground.

The circus has "really cool motorcycles in the Globe of Death and "a Wheel of Destiny," Delisa Jordan said.

A family of five can see the show for $35, Delissa said.

"You can't beat that."

After the performances at 6:30 p.m. tonight and Wednesday at the Casper fairground, the show will move on to the Goshen County Pavilion in Torrington at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and the LCC Arena in Cheyenne at 6:30 p.m. Friday and 2 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday before traveling beyond the state as it winds its way across the country.
