It's that time of year again. From Aug. 22 to Sept. 2, stuff yourself with funnel cake, ride the tilt-a-whirl until you're dizzy, and spend countless tickets in hopes of winning that giant teddy bear.
In less than two weeks, families from all over Maryland will have the chance to congregate at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Baltimore County for the Maryland State Fair. Whether you're young or old, you'll be able to enjoy something at this annual event. From the delicious fried dough to the addicting games, fun rides, and amazing music, you're bound to have a good time.

TIME: Weekdays, Noon–10 p.m. | Weekends (including Labor Day), 10 a.m.–10 p.m.
ADMISSION: Adults $10 | Seniors (62+) $8 | Children (6 - 11) $5 | Children 5 and under are FREE (as well as Military, Police, Fire/EMS with an active ID)
RIDE TICKETS: $1 per ticket (or 50 for $45)

I don't know about you, but my favorite part of the MD State Fair (and any fair, really) is the jumbo corn dogs. I love corn dogs, and the best by far (in my opinion) are found at state fairs. The fact that they have jumbo ones for a couple more bucks is just icing on the cake. If fried meat isn't your thing, they have plenty of other mouth-watering food to keep your belly full as the night goes on.
In addition to food, games, and rides, the MD State Fair also has horseracing, farmers markets, and livestock/horse shows every day starting at 9 a.m., as well as a large exhibit hall filled with neat exhibitors in the Farm and Garden and Home Arts categories.
If you're planning on going during the weekend, be sure to check out one of their awesome bands. Anyone who grew up in the '90s (like me!) will enjoy a blast from the past with the popular pop-band Hanson. They're performing Friday, August 23, at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, August 24, you'll get to enjoy The Marshall Tucker Band, while Locash is performing Friday, August 30, and Night Ranger is finishing out the performances on Saturday, August 31. All tickets are $25 and can be purchased via their website.
In terms of parking, there are limited options on the Fairgrounds for $10, or you can park for FREE at the Park and Ride located on Deereco Road (west of the Fairgrounds). You can also utilize the Light Rail at the "Fairgrounds" station and not worry about parking at all.
