Last month the video games industry, with the help of a handful of Colorado developers, created the Humble Freedom Bundle to raise funds and awareness for social justice initiatives!
The Humble Freedom Bundle is a charity game deal, organized by the online retailer Humble. For a donation of $30 or more, you could receive more than 40 games including rising indie titles, with all proceeds going to the ACLU, the International Rescue Committee and Doctors Without Borders. When the sale ended on Feb. 20, the Humble Freedom Bundle was the site's second best-selling bundle of all time. There were more than 200,000 copies sold, and the initiative garnered $6.5 million.
The resounding intent is to help make the world a better place, while sharing developer's art and skills with the masses. At the end of the day it's a win-win for companies and the initiatives they are supporting by being a part of the bundle.
