HBO’s “ The Last of Us ” Season 2 will release on April 13, the company announced Wednesday. After Season 1 covered the events of PlayStation’s first hit video game, Season 2 will follow the sequel “The Last of Us: Part II.” Like the sequel, Season 2 takes place after a five-year time jump and follows an even more grizzled Joel and Ellie as they face off against more fungal, zombie clickers. New cast members this season include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny. Catherine O’Hara will also guest star in an undisclosed role. Jeffrey Wright will reprise his “The Last of Us: Part II” role as Issac, the ruthless leader of the Washington Liberation, a Seattle-based faction. “The Last of Us” is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who co-created the video game series. Both have also directed episodes of the show and will do so again in Season 2.
