The tiger sought out by Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry entered Tiger Stadium just prior to kickoff for Saturday's LSU-Alabama game, and then the big cat, in its cage, was quickly taken back off the field. While the lights were down inside the stadium prior to the game, the tiger was towed in a cage to the sideline by a truck before the 6:45 p.m. kickoff. Once the lights were turned back on, the tiger could be seen laying down in a cage typically used by Mike the Tiger. A few moments later, the tiger walked around the cage, and some cheers were heard from the crowd. After about seven minutes on the field, the tiger was removed before both teams charged out of the tunnels for the big SEC contest. There was a time when LSU brought Mike the Tiger inside the stadium for football games, but the school ended the practice after the 2015 season. The Advocate has been told that the name of the tiger acquired by Landry is Omar, and WBRZ was informed by an employee of Mitchel Kalmanson that his organization was providing the animal. Images popped up on social media Friday night showing the tiger being taken inside Tiger Stadium. Landry told Fox News on Friday that the acquisition of the tiger is an effort to honor the history of Mike the Tiger. Email Patrick Magee at .
