The search for Pais was focused on the Mount Evans area after there were reports that a woman matching Pais's description was running naked through the forest holding a firearm.
The bizarre events began on Monday evening when Pais reportedly arrived in Denver, purchased a gun, and made some kind of threat that, when communicated to the Colorado Department of Education, resulted in a lockout of schools throughout the metro area on Tuesday afternoon and widespread closure of schools all day on Wednesday. Pais was known to be "obsessed" with the Columbine shootings, the 20th anniversary of which will be Saturday, April 20.
