MARYLAND. – In the Chesapeake Bay, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has programs to help continue conservation efforts. They’re focused on reducing pollution, restoring habitats, and improving water quality.

Officials hope to rebuild the bay’s natural filters, like oyster reefs, forests, and wetlands. WMDT was told each project works together to ensure the health of the bay.

“Community access and recreational access is a part of it. A wide variety of projects will look at how to improve the environment in these watersheds, but also improve the engagement for the community that lives there.”

Officials want residents’ help in restoring the Chesapeake Bay. For more information, contact officials at 1-877-620-8367.
