The American Cheese Society is hosting its annual Festival of Cheese on Saturday, July 29 -- in Denver, no less!

O.M.G. There is actually a national festival dedicated solely to cheese, and this year, it's happening in Denver. The annual, world-famous "Festival of Cheese" is put on by the American Cheese Society (note to self: send résumé to American Cheese Society) and will feature 2,000 different types of cheese, as produced by artisan cheesemakers from all over the country. The event comes on the heels of the "Cheese with Altitude" conference and competition, where the same cheeses will be judged and their cheesemakers celebrated. This is the first time the Festival of Cheese and its accompanying conference has been held in Denver; it's held in a different city each year. The American Cheese Society was founded in 1983 and "is the leading organization supporting the understanding, appreciation, and promotion of farmstead, artisan, and specialty cheeses produced in North America," according to its Facebook page. the society is based in Denver.
