- New data from the Social Security Administration reveals the top baby names of 2024 for each state. The numbers show Montana and New Hampshire bucking some national trends.

Earlier this month, the SSA revealed the overall top names for the United States from 2024 data.

The boys’ top 10 names were all the same as 2023, just in a slightly different order. Meanwhile, the only new name on the girls’ top name list was Sofia, which knocked Luna out of the top 10 rankings.

Breaking down the data by state, it’s clear that Liam and Oliver top most states’ lists of boy names, but not all. Theodore was the most popular New Hampshire while James was the top boy name in our nation’s capital.

For the girls, Charlotte and Oliva topped most states’ lists, but Lainey was the most popular name for baby girls in Montana while Evelyn was most popular in North Dakota.
