A Lone Tree store was robbed of thousands of dollars worth of drone equipment on Sunday afternoon. Police have arrested and charged the man responsible.

On Sunday afternoon, a man walked into the DJI Authorized Retail Store in Lone Tree and came out with thousands of dollars worth of drone equipment. Only problem is: he didn’t pay for them. Based off video surveillance footage, courtesy of Multicopter Warehouse, the thief took off with two specialized drone cameras and a drone battery. He can be seen in the footage pocketing two items before stepping outside to take a phone call. Then he returns a few moments later to steal an additional item. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzPMB7L6GUA

Police have arrested the man in the surveillance footage.

Daniel Lang, 40, is accused of entering the store and pocketing the stolen drone equipment. On Monday night, the police responded to a call at a nearby hotel. They used that information to locate Lang. He has been charged with felony theft. CEO of DJI Joshua Gilson believes Lang targeted them directly:

“Anyone familiar with drones knows that DJI is by far the most popular manufacturer, and our Colorado store is the only DJI retail location between the East and West coasts – so clearly this guy was targeting us.”
