I think we’re all in agreement that you can never have enough Mexican food. Well, perhaps that’s not what’s going through our minds the morning after, but that seems to be the price we pay for some spicy south-of-the-border entrees. Old Town Alexandria is already fortunate enough to house some flavorsome Mexican restaurants, such as Don Taco or Los Cuates. Soon enough, another savory eatery will be joining the ranks, and this place is (wisely) appealing to Alexandria’s tequila-lovers!

It appears Rosslyn is next in line to latch onto one of the latest food crazes making their way across the states. Think if sushi and Chipotle joined forces, and that’s essentially the idea behind poke (pronounced po-KAY). Patrons start by choosing from a variety of bases (including rice, spring mix, or kale noodle nachos) and continue down the line adding their favorite sushi ingredients until it all comes together as one beautifully crafted entree. Let’s be honest -- we’ve all been to a sushi bar and left wishing the rolls we got were bigger. Well, soon enough Rosslyn will be home to the restaurant serving precisely the sushi portions you desire!

Here’s yet another opportunity to experience a popular trend for yourself. Surely you’ve seen the videos of hand-rolled ice cream circulating through your Facebook timeline and scratched your head wondering how it was done ... and how you could get your paws on some without making the commute to Thailand. Fortunately, 520 Ice Cream & Tea has taken matters into their own hands and is the first “Thai-inspired” ice cream joint to open its doors in both Virginia and Maryland. As if the fascination with eating rolled ice cream wasn’t inviting enough, they also offer some mouth-watering toppings to complement your eccentric dessert!
