A lot of things have changed since 1981, but one thing remains: Super Mario. He's the plumber that's been with us through thick and thin, never wavering in the face of evil (even when you kill him repeatedly).
Today is Super Mario Day, appropriately observed on March 10, or Mar10 (see what they did there?).

Here's to the original Jumpman, Super Mario! Celebrate him by buying a pizza, downloading the new
iPhone app, and beasting through the whole thing. OR, invite some friends over for a beer and a classic game of Mario Kart (the only acceptable form of drinking and driving in my book!).
