Colorado Springs, one of the most conservative parts of Colorado, is now home to a more moderate political organization.

Together for Colorado Springs, which launched in February, hopes of mobilizing moderate and progressive voters in the Pikes Peak region. Founder Dawn Haliburton-Rudy told Politics Unpugged that "We are committed to really help shift our political landscape in Colorado Springs ... We will be supporting candidate who are moderate and progressive in order to hopefully change some of the mindset in the city of Colorado Springs." While plans for the group had been in the works for months prior to last fall's election, Haliburton-Rudy says organizers were really propelled into acting by the events of November 8. Candidates supported by the group have already been successful in this spring's municipal elections.
The thought behind it was 'what are we going to do to create, or try to shift and create, monumental change in the city." -Dawn Haliburton-Rudy, Founder
Per Together for Colorado Springs's Facebook page, they believe in creating a more inclusive community, boosting collaborative efforts and sustainability in Colorado Springs, and making the city a more vibrant and just area overall. They also specifically mention preserving and expanding parks, trails and open spaces, empowering everyday citizens to make changes in their community, and making every person's unique voice heard.
