Whether you’re just moving to Colorado or you’re looking to move away from the increasing sardine-esque living of Denver, you need to know the safest Colorado cities!

A new report from the National Council for Home Safety and Security has compiled a list of the 50 safest Colorado cities. The Council has sifted through our state’s crime statistics to make the job of discovering the safest Colorado cities a bit easier on all of us. If you’d like to view the whole list feel free, in the meantime here are the top 5 safest Colorado cities: Johnstown Safest Colorado Cities Nestled just north of Denver, Johnstown is home to about 14,300 people, about four times smaller than the state average. Not only is the population smaller than the state average, the crime rates are also very low. Johnstown is the safest Colorado city with only three reported violent crimes. With only 68 property crimes, this rate falls, again, very low compared to Colorado’s average. Johnstown is known as “The Community that Cares,” and has a newly renovated downtown that brings the community together though fairs and carnivals.
Frederick Safest Colorado Cities With a smaller population comes lower violent crime rates. At only 13 square miles with a population of 11,563, there were only nine reported violent crimes and 73 reported property crimes. Frederick hosts a ton of community events, including a BBQ tour, Deck the Downtown, DIY Day, a Festival of Lights, Miners Day and so much more. The town supports local artists with it’s 40+ art installations scattered throughout the city.   Louisville Safest Colorado Cities Louisville is a mining town right outside of Boulder. Though it’s a small one, only eight square miles, it’s a buzzing town. Louisville only has 16 reported violent crimes with 115 property crimes, which still falls far below the U.S. average.   Firestone Safest Colorado Cities Not too far from both Frederick and Johnstown, Firestone is considered one of the safest Colorado cities. Firestone has a population of 11,800 with only four reported violent crimes and 82 property crimes. The town has had a 622 percent increase in population in 16 years.
