BUFFALO, W.Va. (WVVA) - Toyota West Virginia has announced a multimillion dollar investment for their manufacturing plant in southern West Virginia.

The company says the $88 million dollar investment will go to the assembly of hybrid transaxles. The press release says this brings the total plant investment to $2.8 billion and creates job security for the more than 2,000 person staff.

Governor Patrick Morrisey says this will aid economic growth in the mountain state.

“I applaud this major investment into our state,” said Morrisey . “As the home of Toyota’s only North American plant for this complex machinery, West Virginia will continue to prioritize economic development and skilled jobs for our workforce.”

West Virginia’s former governor and current junior senator echoes the sentiment.

“Investments like this highlight the positive impacts a business-friendly state like West Virginia can reap when accompanied by President Trump’s commitment to bringing manufacturing jobs back to our country,” said Senator Jim Justice. “America is catching on to what I’ve said for a long time - that West Virginia is the best place in the country to do business.”

President Trump recently implemented auto tariffs to encourage more manufacturing state-side.
