Trevor Lawrence says he has "a lot of confidence" in the trajectory of his Jacksonville Jaguars career after his struggles during the 2024 NFL season. Lawrence continued, "Of course, I would have loved to have a little more success up until this point, to answer your question, yeah, of course. But the reality is, this is where we're at, and I love where we're at.

"I got a lot of confidence in it, and we just got to keep putting the work in, out here every day, to prepare ourselves for the fall." Lawrence signed a five-year, $275 million extension ahead of the 2024 season before leading the Jaguars to a 2-8 record. He completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 2,045 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions through 10 starts before his season was derailed by injury. The quarterback suffered a shoulder injury in Week 9, then returned two games later only to suffer a concussion in Week 13. He was ultimately shut down for the season and underwent shoulder surgery on an
AC sprain in his left shoulder in December. Before those injuries, however, Lawrence was already under scrutiny for falling short of the expectations gained from his new contract and his work in leading the Jaguars to a Wild Card round win during his 2022 Pro Bowl campaign. The top pick of the 2021 draft has thrown for 69 touchdowns and committed 69 turnovers through 60 career starts for the Jaguars, a ratio that has some analysts
wondering if his new contract was worth it. A former NFL head coach told ESPN's
Michael DiRocco last September that he had concerns about Lawrence's consistency. "Whether that's an injury thing, dealing with pressure up front, I don't know, but there isn't that consistency in how he sets and delivers. You want repeatable mechanics," the coach told DiRocco. The Jaguars will hope to see that change now that Lawrence has undergone shoulder surgery, a decision head coach Doug Pederson said was made in order to "let him get fully healed." Lawrence is currently operating under a
pitch count, but was seen throwing passes during Day 1 of Jaguars OTAs on Monday. The Jags will hope a potential resurgence from Lawrence, in addition to the arrival of new general manager James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen and offseason additions like No. 2 pick Travis Hunter, will spark a better outcome for the franchise in 2025.
