Last night, a Tri-Rail train clipped the back of a Miami-Dade Transit bus on tracks in Opa-locka, prompting an emergency response. The collision transpired near the intersection of State Road 9 and Northwest 22nd Avenue, close to the Florida Turnpike, and caused several passengers on the bus to be treated for minor injuries. WSVN reported that the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units quickly arriving at the scene.

While details were still being assembled, a Tri-Rail spokesperson explained that the southbound train struck the transit bus. The passengers had to be deboarded and transported by bus to another station as the train was not cleared to continue immediately. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue assessed passengers from both the bus and the train for injuries. According to Local10 , crews also walked nearly half a mile down the tracks to ensure no additional passengers were injured.

Fortunately, no major injuries have been reported, and the treated individuals were attended to at the scene for relatively minor concerns. The exact circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation, with officials having yet to provide an in-depth analysis of events or the causal factors involved. Paramedics' prompt response ensured swift aid to those in need, avoiding any escalation in the severity of the incident's outcomes.

As Miami-Dade officials continue to collect information about the crash, it is anticipated that a review will be made to possibly tighten protocol. It appeared the transit bus was at the rear when the collision occurred, suggesting the potential for a more dangerous outcome had been narrowly avoided.
